The Regional Database of Culture

Ongoing administrative changes and the effective implementation of policy measures require a strong and accurate knowledge base and a snapshot of the development of the regions. Regional data is needed in the implementation of the Cultural Policy Strategy 2025 and in the development of regional guidelines for art and culture. Information is also required in relation the turbulent path of the regional reform. The exploration of the development of the regional database on culture maps the main sources of information as well as the shortcomings in data sources required to compile a regional database of culture. Through two sample areas, the work create da model of the data and indicators required and how they should be presented in order to create a comprehensive picture of the importance and impact of culture in the regions. MDI’s partner for this work was the University of the Arts Helsinki. The work was completed in August 2018 and was commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
