Front page Symposium for the world greatest cities Symposium for the world greatest cities Date: 15.5. –17.5.2024 Workshops, webinars, lectures, camps On 16–17 May 2024, MDI, Kuntaliito (the Municipal Association) and Kuntasäätio (the Municipal Foundation) organised the World’s Best Cities Symposium at the Municipal Hall, Helsinki. Over the course of two days, around 150 Finnish urban and regional development experts and office holders gathered together to reflect upon, learn, discuss and outline their ideas on the present and future state of cities in a global context. The Symposium consisted of plenary speeches by experts from various fields, commentary responses and panel discussions. The event also gathered together people who were involved in the regional centre programme from the early 2000s, providing them with the opportunity to reminisce about previous urban and regional development policies and problems.
