6th Road Map for Urban Policy: The renaissance of medium-sized cities

The renaissance of medium-sized cities continues MDI’s series of urban policy publications. The urban policy road maps are implemented using the so-called ‘club method’, where a group of participants participating in the project discuss a current urban political theme. MDI is responsible for the publication and conclusions of the project. The theme of the sixth road map was medium-sized cities (i.e. Pori – Hyvinkää) and their possible new arrival both in the field of growth and in the field of Finnish urban policy. In the renaissance of medium-sized cities, the responsibility to act in the post-pandemic world rests with the cities themselves though partnership with the state and the need to develop a set of common interests among medium-sized cities was also emphasised.
