The work produced concrete development activities, new ways of doing things and peer learning. There were two main themes in the definition of problems: the balance of growth and the environment and the planning and implementation of space use. The urban planning solution was involved in the search for Espoo, Helsinki, Karkkila, Kemi, Oulu and Turku. Two parallel projects were implemented by a consortium led by MDI and Demos Helsinki, of which Demos led the urban planning challenge package and MDI the well-being and social sustainability challenge package.
