Front page Updating the Active Working Life recommendations and developing a workplace assessment model Updating the Active Working Life recommendations and developing a workplace assessment model Date: 1.8.2026 –15.1.2027 Experimental Development Research, studies Insufficient physical activity is one of the most significant public health challenges in Finland. This need is addressed by Active Working Life, which is part of the Active Adult programme funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Active Working Life strengthens the role of physical activity in working life by supporting workplaces, collaborating with working life actors and producing information at a national level. The Active Working Life recommendations (2022) form a national framework for promoting physical activity among employees in organisations. They are based on a three-level maturity model that has supported workplaces in developing operating models that promote physical activity. In 2026, MDI will carry out a study consisting of two complementary components: updated Active Working Life maturity levels and recommendations, and a systematic workplace self-assessment model to be developed alongside them. The study will be implemented as an iterative process involving a key group of experts, in collaboration with JAMK University of Applied Sciences. The study will be completed in January 2027.
