Baseline, needs assessment and service design for ecosystem companies’ innovation services

The City of Tampere is implementing the Innovation Tampere – Platform for Growth project together with Business Tampere.

MDI implemented a study for the project on the initial situation of innovation services in the region’s ecosystems and the service needs of SMEs in these ecosystems. The study consisted of a data analysis of background materials, a survey of companies and an analysis and summary of the collected data, plus a service design created for innovation and testing platforms. The study focused on selected ecosystems and, in particular, on the service needs of companies in manufacturing industry, energy and health technology. At the same time, the study took into account the themes in line with the Pirkanmaa smart specialisation strategy and the service needs of various industries.

Based on the study, more specific conclusions were drawn on the requirements for the further development of these companies’ innovation services. Based on the study, the aim is to develop, in cooperation with actors offering innovation services and representatives of test platforms, service packages that meet the needs of companies to be implemented on test platforms.
