Front page The application for European Capital of Culture (ECoC) for the city of Oulu The application for European Capital of Culture (ECoC) for the city of Oulu Date: 1.10.2020 –31.3.2021 Strategies and programmes Workshops, webinars, lectures, camps An international panel of experts chose Oulu as the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) 2026. This is the European Union’s best-known and most significant Cultural Programme. From Finland Tampere and Savonlinna were also in the final competition.MDI facilitated two workshops for the Oulu2026 team to support the understanding of the key concepts in the application book, strategy and narrative construction. In cooperation with the Oulu2026 bid team, MDI helped the Oulu application writing team in the preperation of the official application text in English based on their original Finnish material. In the process, MDI focused in particular on language quality and grammar, response to ECOC criteria, logical structure and conceptual coherence of the text and prioritisation.
