Scenario process for South Karelia

MDI carried out a prospective study for the Regional Council of South Karelia which included four scenario options and their contingency plans. In addition, a common vision for the region’s actors up to 2040 was also created. The work was carried out as an interactive process, including five large-scale workshops, three of which focused on the drivers of change, knowledge and collaboration in the province. The work also gathered together the views of young people from Lappeenranta High School on the scenarios. The work was based on futures research methodology (e.g. futures table, fore- and back casting) and interaction methods that enhance mutual understanding, such as the Timeout-method (Sitra).
