Front page Piloting the Regional Cultural Knowledge Base Piloting the Regional Cultural Knowledge Base Date: 11.1. –15.8.2019 Research, studies Strategies and programmes MDI supported and sparred the piloting of a Regional Cultural Knowledge Base with five provinces in a project commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The development of a cultural knowledge base was identified as an important development topic both nationally and regionally. There is statistical and research information available in the field of cultural policy, but the information is scattered while the regional knowledge base in the field of culture in particular is not comprehensive in relation to its needs. Piloting tested the compilation of the data sources proposed by MDI and the University of the Arts in 2018 with the provinces, discuss the development of the knowledge base among cultural actors in the region and interpret the compiled cultural statistical and monitoring information. Pilots were used to refine the frame of reference for the regional snapshot of culture and to craft development proposals from a regional perspective in order to enhance the national cultural knowledge base.
