Front page References Future view of contract fire brigades Future view of contract fire brigades Date: 25.6.2020 –28.2.2021 Research, studies MDI conducted a study examining the future of Finnish contract fire brigades. The study produced a comprehensive view of changes affecting the operating environment of contract fire brigades, identifying critical operating conditions etc., and producing three scenarios up to 2035. The study describes the current state of the contract fire service and the operating environment and changes in the light of regional and demographic development based on documentary and statistical analyses. Three case studies are conducted in different operating environments. Interviews with key experts in rescue services were held to create the scenarios. Juha Heikkala Consulting, who specialise in associational activities, were also involved in the work as a subcontractor.
