Forming an evaluation model and indicators for the Fiksu kaupunki project

Forum Virium Helsinki implemented the Fiksu kaupunki – Helsinki Innovation Districts project (2020-2023), in which the smart city development model developed in Helsinki’s Kalasatama area was utilised in Helsinki’s urban renewal areas Mellunkylä, Malmi, Malminkartano-Kannelmäki and Pasila. The project supported smart city development in areas where new urban services, innovations and businessess are generated. The project also broadly supported cooperation between Helsinki’s building and developing areas, the transfer and dissemination of best practices and solutions and coordinated a portfolio that will be compiled into a regional innovation roadmap. MDI developed an impact model and indicators to support project implementation and monitoring. The impact model was built around the principles of proactive impact evaluation where the basic idea is to help outline the conditions for project impacts, to create a knowledge base for impact verification and to support the emergence of the desired impacts with information.
