Contractuality in regional and urban development

MDI studied the operation, effectiveness and development of contractual regional and urban development as a mandate from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. Contractual regional and urban development was compared to previous paradigms of regional development, such as programme-based regional development while its legitimacy and methods of implementation were evaluated together with the participants.

In addition, MDI analysed how and to what themes, contractualism could be extended. The work involved the preparation of an initial overview of contractualism with the help of a document analysis while, in addition, also specifying the term itself. After this, an extensive survey was drawn up for representatives of different regions, with various experts being interviewed in more detail. Spatia was responsible for producing the case examples. The work concluded with an extensive workshop and the formulation of final recommendations.
