Building Borderless Tampere Region

Good planning for land use, housing and traffic creates a general attraction for the urban area and competitiveness in business decision-making solutions compared to other urban regions. Regional cooperation is a well established practice in Tampere’s urban region. The aim of the Borderless Tampere Study is to describe recent phenomena relevant to the development of the business community in the Tampere region and their reflections on the development of land use. The work analyses how the land use allocations in the urban structure correspond to the profiles and needs of the companies located in the region and how the current land use provisions offer attractive investment opportunities for future livelihoods. Thirdly, the assessment of the urban structure characteristics, operating models and the desired location benefits of companies, as well as the assessment of the conditions for the development of business premises in the urban structure, will be assessed in the light of changes in the operating environment. The work utilizes statistics and GIS data sets as well as material produced by interviews and workshops. The subscriber is Tampere City Region and the work was completed in February 2018.
