In 2022, MDI carried out a labour supply and demand forecast for Salo on behalf of Yrityssalo Oy. The work consisted of two parts: 1) A current state analysis of Salo’s labour supply and demand based on available statistical sources, 2) An analysis of future labour needs by producing forecasts for labour market matching for the years 2025, 2030 and 2040. This included a sector-specific review and analysis of labour supply and demand alignment. In this update, a concise current state analysis was conducted, labour market matching scenarios were revised and key conclusions regarding the development of labour supply and demand were summarised. The analysis identified and highlighted significant changes in population trends, employed workforce, job development and labour market conditions. The scenarios from the previous analysis were updated using the latest statistics, including the 2024 population forecasts from MDI and Statistics Finland. Labour demand, or job scenarios, was revised with sector-specific assumptions and trend-based projections.
