Study on the Regional Development Task of Public Libraries

MDI conducted a study for the Ministry of Education and Culture on the impact and functionality of the regional development task assigned to public libraries. The purpose of the evaluation was to examine the functionality of the structures and methods implemented under the 2017 updated legislation which transformed the former provincial library model giving it a regional development task.

Key areas of focus included the adequacy of current regional structures, support for libraries in meeting local needs, efficient use of resources, and collaboration between libraries and local authorities. The project involved document analysis, surveys and interviews. The results of the study will strengthen the impact of the development task and support long-term evaluation practices.
