Study on the effects of remote work on greenhouse gas emissions from transport

MDI prepared a report together with Ramboll Finland and Telia on the effects of remote work on greenhouse gas emissions from transport. The work examined the expected prevalence of remote work and its impact on greenhouse gas emissions from transport, as well as possible means of promoting remote work. The work formed a municipal-level picture of the assumed proportions of the teleworking population and assessed its future development. In addition, the work examined the effects of development on housing choices and future demographic trends which will also have a significant impact on the future development of greenhouse gas emissions. Based on MDI’s calculations, Ramboll calculated the greenhouse gas emission reduction potential of telework, taking into account possible changes in the regional structure due to telework.Link to report (Available in Finnish): https://julkaisut.valtioneuvosto.fi/handle/10024/163413
