Population forecast to Southwest Finland wellbeing services county

The future population development of the Southwest Finland wellbeing services county was examined, based on MDI’s population forecast by age and language group. The forecast modelled the development at the municipal level in one-year age groups by language group and by gender, based on the so-called ‘demographic component model’. The forecast takes into account the effects of age structure, language structure and regional structure on population development, also in a country outside Southwest Finland wellbeing services county. There were four scenarios outlined in relation to the work each looking at future developments while using slightly different assumptions.
