KULTA – Special features of the Forest Sami culture

MDI studied specific
cultural features of the so-called Forest Sami people. The study focused on the
cultural features that can be recognised today and that the people itself
recognizes as important. The study aimed at diversifying the discussion on
Forest Sami culture and at proposing measures that promote and support the
culture. The work included data collection (including field research and
in-depth interviews in Lapland) and local workshops. The research drew a lot of
interest as it was the first project focusing on the sensitive issue of Forest
