Knowledge base and process support for Alavus’ local structural change (PÄRM)

The town of Alavus faced several setbacks in its business sector when a few locally significant employers ceased operations, and, simultaneously, an accident forced one company to suspend its activities. This was a locally significant sudden structural change. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (TEM), a local structural change (PÄRM) refers to a sudden (unforeseen) situation that does not meet the criteria for a large-scale sudden structural change (ÄRM) but causes a local crisis in terms of the economy, employment, and labour markets.

Alavus applied for and received funding to address its structural change situation. MDI assisted the town of Alavus in managing the local sudden structural change by compiling a comprehensive knowledge base from the latest statistical data. In addition, MDI facilitated collaboration between the town of Alavus and key stakeholders, as well as contributing to the development of solution proposals.
