Analysis of the vitality of the Tampere region

MDI conducted an analysis of the vitality of the Tampere city region and the owner municipalities of Business Tampere (Tampere, Kangasala, Lempäälä, Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Vesilahti and Ylöjärvi). The analysis were carried out continuously throughout 2024, utilising MDI’s and FCG’s developed Elinvoima, Vetovoima ja Pitovoima (EVP) index.

The regional and municipal analysis included an examination of the entire Tampere region’s position using the EVP index to compare it to other benchmark regions (maps and charts, verbal analysis). Additionally, there was a separate analysis for each municipality (8 in total). In the municipality-specific analysis, the temporal development of the EVP index was examined and the development of the variables influencing the index was detailed. Furthermore, a separate analysis was conducted to analyse the absolute and relative development of the municipality’s vitality and attractiveness and retention in relation to the overall development of the Tampere region and other benchmark municipalities.

An automatically updating summary view of the EVP index was provided to Business Tampere and interested municipalities as a PowerBI embed on Business Tampere’s website and potentially on the municipalities’ websites. The analyses were compiled into easily readable PowerPoint reports so that Business Tampere and municipalities can utilise both the overall regional summary and the municipality-specific report in accordance with their needs. The analyses were conducted in January 2024 and updates regarding changes in indicators were undertaken again in August 2024.
