Front page News News MDI studies the overall picture of regional immigration strategies MDI studies the overall picture of regional immigration strategies 25.10.2021 There is no comprehensive, nationwide, information available on regional immigration strategies in Finland. Thus, during the autumn of 2021, MDI examined the overall picture as regards regional immigration strategies: 1) whether immigration policies have been defined in the regions and with what accuracy, 2) how immigration policy is linked to other regional strategic development work and 3) how education and work-based migration are integrated into different vitality strategies or other plans. The aim of the study is to support the discussion in the regions on accessibility to a skilled labour force, work and education-based immigration and to highlight the different levels of preparedness for skilled labour force shortages in the regions. The study was carried out by means of content analysis, group interviews, workshops and a survey. In addition, statistical data will be used, especially the differences between regions in employment and education-based migration in the recent past, the present and in the future. Multi-functional development of station areas News 28.11.2023 In the early autumn period, MDI and FCG worked on the development of the Asemanseutu project which is part of the project package – Vitality for Urban Regions. The work undertaken clarified the basic models for the multi-functional development of station areas, as well as providing recommendations for their development and financing.
