Future Scenario Study on Regional Higher Education in Mikkeli and Savonlinna

MDI conducted a project to develop future scenarios for regional higher education for the cities of Mikkeli and Savonlinna. The work involved analysing background material—such as city strategies and previous studies—and supplementing it with interviews with key higher education stakeholders and a joint workshop with the steering group. Based on this material, alternative scenarios were developed regarding the future of higher education in the South Savo region. The project was guided by a joint steering group representing the cities, with the results compiled into a final report presented to the city councils. The scenario work supports the cities’ strategic decision-making and the direction of higher education cooperation.
