Internal migration in Finland and the importance of better retention in the northern regions

Speech at the PYV-conference in Kajaani. The 30-minute speech covered statistical and survey data on the internal migration within Finland, the attraction and retention factors of municipalities, and ideas about what kind of immigration policy could support sustainable work- and education-based immigration and stronger retention in the northern region.

PYV is an annual employment and economic developement conference that brings together stajeholders from the regions of Lapland, Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia to network and develop the competitiveness of the regions through cooperation.
