Urban Network Study 2015

MDI updated the Urban Network Study that has monitored and developed the national urban network and Finnish urban regions for 20 years (1995, 1998, 2001, 2006). The method, a statistical analysis, was kept as unchangeable as possible to make longitudinal comparison (1995-2013) possible. According to the study there are now 30 functionally relevant urban regions. The number of the regions has dropped, but there are more strong regional centres than in the middle of the 90s. The Urban Network Study, its background articles and statistics (in Finnish) can be found on www.mdi.fi/kaupunkiverkko.
