Riihimäki City Migration Study

The study aimed to provide information on the qualitative factors of migration. The focus was on identifying the reasons for in-migration and out-migration, as well as recognising potential groups of migrants where migration to Riihimäki can be strengthened. The information gathered in the study can be utilised in the city’s housing programme, land-use planning, the development of retention and attraction power and communication with potential migrants.

The research data was used to derive and identify different group-level migrant profiles. This will help to find ways to influence the migration intentions of each group, for example, through targeted communication.
