Report on regional immigration strategies

There is no comprehensive, nationwide, information available on regional immigration strategies in Finland. MDI examined the overall picture of regional immigration strategies 1) whether immigration policies have been defined in the regions and with what accuracy, 2) how immigration policy is linked to other regional strategic development work and 3) how education and work-based migration are integrated into different vitality strategies or other plans. The aim of the study was to support the discussion in the regions on accessibility to a skilled labour force, work and education-based immigration and to highlight the different levels of preparedness for skilled labour force shortages in the regions.The study was carried out through content analysis, group interviews, workshops and a survey.
