Fast Eastern Railways – the impact on regional economy by using data visualization

MDI provides an evaluation and data visualization about the impact of fast railway in Eastern Finland. The clients of this project are the cities of Kouvola and Porvoo. Fast railway in Eastern Finland is a direct railway line from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Kouvola via Porvoo that considerably shortens the travel times to the area and cities (Joensuu and Kuopio) of Eastern Finland. For the evaluation, a study on previous research about the wider economic impacts of infrastructure projects on regional economy will be carried out. Based on prior research, MDI will create an analysis and data visualization about the wider economic effects and the impact on regional development that the fast railway would create. The evaluation and data visualization will be finished in January.
