The current Finnish Government has set an ambitious goal for a carbon-neutral Finland by 2035 and for example, more and more enterprises see regulations on emissions and biodiversity as a factor in competitiveness. MDI is carrying out a study tasked with encouraging cities and municipalities in respect of their climate change and circular economy measures together with Tyrsky Consulting Oy and Valonia. The report is commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment. The aim of the study is to outline what new instruments could add value to promote both national climate policy and circular economy objectives and also the climate and circular economy actions of cities and municipalities. The work undertaken clarified the basic models for the multi-functional development of station areas, as well as providing recommendations for their development and financing.
