Front page News News Economic Development Strategy for Pielinen Karelia Economic Development Strategy for Pielinen Karelia 26.1.2016 MDI will spar the economic development strategy of the region of Pielinen Karelia, a rural region including small towns of Lieksa and Nurmes and the municipality of Valtimo in Eastern Finland. MDI will spar Pielinen Karelia in the preparation of the economic development strategy in the spring of 2016. The work includes help in the preparation of the basic elements of the strategy with strategy workbook followed by two workshops in Nurmes and Lieksa in the late spring. Local regional development company is itself responsible for writing the development strategy, MDI spars and comments the drafts during the spring and in June.
