Climate Action

Climate change is accelerating, and the effects of rising temperatures are evident everywhere. The role of municipalities in climate action is increasingly vital as climate risks become more tangible while national and international climate targets loom ever closer. We offer organisations extensive expertise in relation to climate action, combining knowledge of the municipal sector, data analysis, and systemic transitions.

What Do We Do?

The impacts of rising temperatures are visible worldwide – but especially in Finland, where the northern climate is warming at least twice as fast as the global average. We believe municipalities have the potential to punch above their weight when it comes to enhancing regional climate resilience.

We support organisations in their climate work with a multidisciplinary perspective and an understanding of the broader context of the climate crisis. Our studies are grounded in up-to-date research, data interpretation, environmental trend analysis, and local insights. Our approach is grounded in meaningful dialogue and active participation.

We work in close partnership with FCG’s top teams in urban planning and environmental analysis to deliver climate assessments.

Climate and sustainability work requires dialogue – not confrontation.

Climate Plans

We offer municipalities the opportunity to update their climate plans based on current knowledge and local needs.

Our experts are responsible for the planning, delivery, and drafting of the municipality’s climate plan in close cooperation with local stakeholders. The final document is professionally written, visually engaging, and clearly structured – a tool that supports the implementation of climate measures across the municipal organisation and its partners.

Risks and Adaptation

Climate action is not only about reducing emissions – it also involves adapting to a changing climate. The effects of global warming are already visible across Finland, threatening not only the built environment and nature but also public health and the viability of vulnerable livelihoods.

We help municipalities to identify local climate risks, prepare adaptation plans, and initiate concrete climate adaptation measures. Anticipating climate risks is more cost-effective for municipalities than repairing damage afterwards.

Holistic Sustainability

Sustainability transition demands not only lower emissions, but also a fair economy and the protection of wellbeing and cultural values across all levels of governance.

Our holistic sustainability services support, for example:

  • Sustainable urban development
  • Climate and sustainability work in wellbeing services counties
