Front page News News Plans for developing town centres Plans for developing town centres 11.10.2017 Four municipalities in the Upper Savo region are seeking to boost their attractiveness and vitality by developing town centres. The city of Iisalmi and municipalities of Lapinlahti, Sonkajärvi and Vieremä have conducted a survey to scan the thoughts and ideas for the development of services in the town centres from inhabitants, businesses and other stakeholders earlier this spring. MDI will carry out an intensive process to the municipalities resulting in the development plans for town centres in each municipality. Based on the desk study, the process culminates in “centre hackathon”, where the contents for the development plans will be outlined. The work will be finalised by the end of 2017. Multi-functional development of station areas News 28.11.2023 In the early autumn period, MDI and FCG worked on the development of the Asemanseutu project which is part of the project package – Vitality for Urban Regions. The work undertaken clarified the basic models for the multi-functional development of station areas, as well as providing recommendations for their development and financing.
