The impact of public subsidies on film production

At the end of 2017, MDI launched an evaluation study on the mandate of the Ministry of Education and Culture to investigate the effectiveness and impacts of national subsidies for domestic film and independent television production. The aim of the study was to clarify the image of the film industry and the current situation in the film sector in Finland. Government funding for film production is an important part of the total production budget. In the national budget 2017 an appropriation of about 25 million euros was earmarked to support the domestic films. Link to final report (in Finnish): https://bit.ly/39grFo1
