Eila Valtanen

Totalities, the sustainability of industries and nature get me excited. After graduating as a forester from the University of Helsinki I worked in Lapland and Kainuu in managerial positions and as director in forestry. As mayor of the town of Kuhmo I got to advance the globally unique wood cluster of Kuhmo that created e.g., the first CLT factory in Finland and the Tuupala wooden element school. I am on the board of the Patrons' Association of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival and the Representative Council of Kuhmo Savings Bank. I participated in the Lapland tourism boom as an entrepreneur and a guide. I am the Honorary President of the Veikko Huovinen author society. I have worked as a columnist for Metsälehti magazine and currently write columns for the magazines Lapin Kansa and Kuhmolainen.
