Study on Development of Housing Policy

MDI was responsible for a research project focusing on how housing policy should be developed, particularly in the metropolitan area and how the current support tools for housing have succeeded. Housing policy is viewed as one of the key concerns in the metropolitan area, where significant housing bottlenecks are caused by high housing costs and lthe ack of availability in respect of affordable rental housing. Housing subsidies are often also the subject of criticism. The aim of this study was to provide information to help with decision-making on how it would be possible to increase the positive effects of cost-effective housing policy. The client was the Parliament’s Auditing Committee. MDI’s research partners were Seppo Laakso and Henrik Lönnqvist. The results were released in the summer ,2017.
