In the future, ensuring vitality will be one of the main tasks for Finnish cities. A successful city wil be one which is appealing and attractive. The city as a whole is responsible for the vitality policy. However, the city itself only has limited power to affect those factors impacting vitality. Hence the activities of local companies, universities and citizens are also fundamentally important. The current business-led vitality policy model in Jyväskylä does not meet the needs of the changing environment. MDI made a proposal to reorganise the policy for the city of Jyväskylä. The proposal also introduced new forms of involvement (e.g. sparring forums). The work was completed in autumn 2016.
