Finland’s tourism income is € 14 billion a year. That is enough to be shared, and every region and city wants a slice of it. The City of Porvoo is one of the most well-known urban destinations in Finland, but it wants to further strengthen its tourism offering. MDI produced a small-scale background report on tourism trends, guidelines, bottlenecks and key observations in relation to Porvoo’s tourism offering. The work was based heavily on the tourism vision of the city of Helsinki from 2017, after all, Porvoo is a part of larger metropolitan area. Based on the desk study, a workshop was held with key operators and developers of this region in mid-March 2018. The development work was undertaken in cooperation with Posintra Ltd.
