Development of services around railway stations

Railway stations and their surroundings have become buzzing oases in urban development terms. There are plenty of possibilities for designing services e.g. to ease commuting and leisure travelling ofrto otherwise serve the residents. Growth Corridor Finland appointed MDI to carry out a pilot during autumn 2017 aiming at scanning possible services and service providers as well as mapping people’s interest in using such services. During the pilot, station hackathons were carried out to activate residents, travellers and service providers. and to encourage participation. The case cities were Seinäjoki and Riihimäki. The results and experiences of the pilot were utilised by the entire growth corridor. MDI carried out the pilot in co-operation with First Round Ltd.
