Railway stations and their surroundings have become the buzzing oasis’ in urban development. There are plenty of possibilities for designing services e.g. to ease commuting and leisure travelling of to otherwise serve the residents. Growth Corridor Finland appointed MDI to carry out a pilot during autumn 2017 aiming at scanning possible services and services providers as well as mapping people’s interest for using the services. During the pilot, station hackathons were carried out to activate and participate residents, travellers and service providers. Case cities were Seinäjoki and Riihimäki. The results and experiences of the pilot remained in the use of the entire growth corridor. MDI carried out the pilot in co-operation with First Round Ltd.
