MDI carried out a strategy sparring process for the city of Kouvola. The aim was to find ways to strengthen the city’s vitality.
The strategy work begun in December 2015 with a workshop and interviewing the key actors in the area. Peer-development method was used when Kouvola’s group visited Seinäjoki and met the city’s management group. The results of the work were presented at the final seminar in April. The thoughts of vitality were discussed in small-groups and council seminar was held in April.
The work had four themes:
- Renewable and skilled business field
- Kouvola comes closer
- Kouvola as an attractive city
- Nice and active Kouvola
The final report suggests 10 most important actions which should be done to strengthen the vitality of Kouvola.
”We needed to pave the way for continuous making of vitality, make the updated version Kouvola 3.0 for this community. The work supported our own reforms and offered enough challenges to concretise. I would recommend MDI! The starting point is to know what you want and tolerate what you don’t necessarily want to hear. Additional recommendation: peer development. Our trip to Seinäjoki was very valuable.”
